Tragically, such injustices continue to plague innocent Dalit families in various parts of the country even today.

ಊರಾಚೆ ಗುಡಿಸಲು ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಂಡು, ಗುತ್ತಿಗೆದಾರ ರಾಜಣ್ಣ ಹೇಳಿದ ಕೆಲಸಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ, ಸಿದ್ದನ ಕುಟುಂಬ ಮತ್ತು ಅವನ ಪಂಗಡದವರು ಜೀವನ ಸಾಗಿಸುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಗುತ್ತಿಗೆದಾರನು ಸುಳ್ಳು ಭರವಸೆಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಇವರನ್ನು ಶೋಷಿಸಿ, ನಿಂಗಮ್ಮ ಮತ್ತು ಲಚ್ಚಿಯ ಬದುಕನ್ನು ಹಾಳು ಮಾಡಿ ಕ್ರೂರವಾಗಿ ಅವಮಾನಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಈ ಅವಮಾನ ಸಹಿಸಲಾಗದ ನಿಂಗಮ್ಮ ಆತ್ಮಹತ್ಯೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ಆಕೆಯ ಅಂತಿಮ ಯಾತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರು ಊರಿನವರಿಂದ ನೋವು, ಹಿಂಸೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅಪಮಾನ ಅನುಭವಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಶವ ಸಂಸ್ಕಾರಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿರುವ ಕಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಸಂಗ್ರಹಿಸಿ ತರುವ ವೇಳೆಗೆ, ನಿಂಗಮ್ಮನ ಶವ ನಾಯಿಗಳ ಪಾಲಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ಘಟನೆ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರನ್ನು ಆಳವಾದ ದುಃಖದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಳುಗಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

NAVEEN DESHABOINA

Naveen Deshaboyna, from Karimnagar, began his career as a proofreader at a small newspaper company and a projectionist at the KAFISO Film Society. Inspired by Satyajit Ray, he pursued filmmaking, despite early struggles, and worked as an assistant director. His breakthrough came with LATHA BHAGANKARA, based on a true story about a 65-year-old woman saving her husband in a marathon, winning both the National Film Award and Filmfare Award.
