In Dhaka, Bangladesh, 25-year-old Saba cares for her paralyzed mother, Shirin, after an accident leaves her unable to walk. As Saba shoulders the responsibilities of caregiving and earning a living, the daily grind seems never-ending, and Shirin's demands grow as her health deteriorates. While working at a job she found to earn money for Shirin's surgery, Saba meets Ankur, who brings a glimmer of hope into her life. When Saba senses her mother's impending death, this moment of overwhelming pain also signals the end of her seemingly endless cycle of life.

ಬಾಂಗ್ಲಾದೇಶದ ಢಾಕಾದಲ್ಲಿ 25 ವರ್ಷ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನ ಸಬಾಗೆ ಪಾರ್ಶ್ವವಾಯು ಪೀಡಿತ ತನ್ನ ತಾಯಿಯನ್ನು ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿ ಬಂದಿದೆ. ಆಕಸ್ಮಿಕ ಅಪಘಾತದಲ್ಲಿ ಗಾಯಗೊಂಡ ಸಬಾ ತಾಯಿಗೆ ನಡೆದಾಡಲು ಕಷ್ಟವಾಗಿದೆ. ಆಗ ಮನೆಯ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿ ವಹಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಸಬಾ, ಜೀವನದ ದಿನನಿತ್ಯದ ಜಂಜಾಟಗಳನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ತಾಯಿಯ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಹದಗೆಟ್ಟಾಗ ಹಣಕಾಸು ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಗದೆ ಪರದಾಡುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ಪರಿಚಾರಕಿಯಾಗಿಯೂ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ತಾಯಿಯ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಗೆ ಹಣ ಹೊಂದಿಸಲು ಓಡಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಗ ಸಹೋದ್ಯೋಗಿ ಅಂಕುರ್‌ ಕೈಗೂಡಿಸಿದ್ದು ಸಬಾಗೆ ಧೈರ್ಯ ನೀಡುತ್ತದಲ್ಲದೆ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಭರವಸೆ ಮೂಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಸಬಾ ತನ್ನ ತಾಯಿಯ ಸನ್ನಿಹಿತ ಮರಣವನ್ನು ಗ್ರಹಿಸಿದಾಗ, ಅಗಾಧವಾದ ನೋವಿನ ಈ ಕ್ಷಣವು ಅವಳ ಅಂತ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲದ ಜೀವನ ಚಕ್ರದ ಅಂತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸೂಚಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

Maksud Hossain

Maksud Hossain was born and raised in the United Arab Emirates and studied film in the United States before returning to Bangladesh. He has directed 15 short films and over 200 television commercials and he wrote, directed and produced the TV movie 72 Hours. SABA is his debut feature film and was selected for the Discovery section at the 2024 Toronto IFF.
