YASEMIN ŞAMDERELI

Born in Dortmund, Germany, in 1973, she studied at Munich’s College of Film and Television. By 20, she was already working as an assistant director, scriptwriter, and director, gaining experience on international productions with Jackie Chan, Teddy Chan, and Stanley Tong. Known for multicultural projects, she directed TV movies ALLES GETÜRKT AND ICH CHEFE, DU NIX and co-wrote the series TURKISH FOR BEGINNERS. Her feature debut, ALMANYA, co-written with her sister Nesrin, became a massive hit, topping international arthouse charts five times and winning German film awards for Best Feature and Screenplay.
