WHO DO I BELONG TO MÉ EL AÏN MERYAM JOOBEUR

Aicha lives in the isolated north of Tunisia with her husband and youngest son. The family lives in anguish after the departure of the eldest sons Mehdi and Amine to the violent embrace of war. When Mehdi unexpectedly returns home with a mysterious pregnant wife, a darkness emerges, threatening to consume the entire village. Aicha is caught between her maternal love and her search for the truth.

ಉತ್ತರ ಟುನಿಶಿಯಾದ ಏಕಾಂತ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಐಚಾ ತನ್ನ ಗಂಡ ಮತ್ತು ಕೊನೆಯ ಮಗನೊಂದಿಗೆ ವಾಸಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಳೆ. ಹಿಂಸೆ ತಾಂಡವವಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಯುದ್ಧಭೂಮಿಗೆ ಹಿರಿಯ ಪುತ್ರರಾದ ಮೆಹದಿ ಮತ್ತು ಅಮೈನ್‌ ತೆರಳಿದ ನಂತರ ಅನಿಶ್ಚಿತ ವಾತಾವರಣದಿಂದಾಗಿ ಕುಟುಂಬದಲ್ಲಿ ದುಃಖ ಮಡುಗಟ್ಟಿದೆ. ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಮೆಹದಿ ಗರ್ಭಿಣಿಯಾಗಿರುವ ನಿಗೂಢ ಮಡದಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿತವಾಗಿ ಮನೆಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಆತಂಕದ ಕತ್ತಲು ಕವಿಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ಕಗ್ಗತ್ತಲು ಇಡೀ ಹಳ್ಳಿಯನ್ನು ನುಂಗುವ ಅಪಾಯ ಎದುರಾಗಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಐಚಾ ತನ್ನ ತಾಯಿಯ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಸತ್ಯದ ಹುಡುಕಾಟದ ಅಡಕತ್ತರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಲುಕಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾಳೆ.

MERYAM JOOBEUR

Meryam is an Academy Award-nominated Tunisian-American director, based in Montréal, Canada. Her work includes both documentary and fiction. Her short films GODS, WEEDS, AND REVOLUTIONS (2012) and BORN IN THE MAELSTROM (2017), starring Sasha Lane, screened in dozens of national and international festivals. Her academy nominated short film BROTHERHOOD (2018) screened at 150+ festivals and won 74 international prizes. She is a co-owner of Tunisia based production company Instinct Bleu with producer Sarra Ben Hassen.
