17-year-old Sam embarks on a three-day backpacking trip in the Catskills with her dad, Chris, and his oldest friend, Matt. The two men quickly settle into a brotherly dynamic, airing long-held grievances in front of Sam, a captive audience on the hike. Wise beyond her years, Sam attempts to mediate the dueling egos of the two men, but her frustration reaches a fever pitch when lines are crossed, and her trust is betrayed. As Sam struggles with her dad’s emotional limitations, she is finally ready to break free from her role as the “good one” in the family.

INDIA DONALDSON

India Donaldson is a Los Angeles-based filmmaker and screenwriter. Donaldson worked in the textile industry. She made her directorial debut in 2018 with the short film MEDUSA, followed by the short films HANNAHS and IF FOUND. GOOD ONE premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival. The film was nominated for the Camera d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. GOOD ONE won the Grand Jury Prize for the Best Independent American Feature Film at this year's Champs - Élysées Film Festival.
